By April 30 of this year, nearly 700,000 migrants will have to leave the Russian Federation, Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev said during a ministerial board meeting, APA’s Moscow reporter reports.
According to him, by the end of 2024, the number of foreigners illegally staying in Russia was about 700,000.
The minister noted that those migrants must settle their documents and legalize their status by April 30.
Kolokoltsev also stated that 1,500 people had been deprived of Russian citizenship for violating the law.
It is important to note that Russia has tightened its migration legislation since January 1 of this year. Illegal migrants in the country have been given time until April 30 to legalize their status. Migrants who fail to arrange their documents will begin to be deported from Russia starting May 1.
