"Russia has proposed that the United States remove sanctions on Aeroflot to pave the way for the resumption of direct flights between the two countries," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
Speaking about Russia’s proposal to resume direct flights to the United States, the Foreign Minister emphasized that this should come as a result of lifting sanctions on Aeroflot:
“We made this proposal during a meeting in Riyadh a month ago. The Americans accepted it, but we haven’t seen any follow-up from their side so far. However, during yesterday’s meeting in Istanbul, our experts reminded them of the offer. To be honest, I haven’t had the opportunity to contact them yet,” he said.
The Russian Foreign Minister stated that Moscow will work on this.
