A criminal case has been initiated against renowned Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov, the Investigative Committee of Russia stated, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
It was stated that the blogger is being charged under the article concerning evasion of duties provided by the legislation on foreign agents (Article 330.1, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Varlamov faces up to two years in prison.
Note that Ilya Varlamov was designated as a foreign agent in Russia in March 2023. The Ministry of Justice stated that he received foreign funding and spread “false information about the decisions adopted by the state authorities and their policies.”
