Russia holds talks with Serbia on extension of gas agreement

Russia is holding talks with Serbia on the extension of a gas agreement, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Responding to a question about the prospects of Russian gas supplies to Serbia, Peskov noted that Russia remains committed to its obligations, especially toward friendly countries such as Serbia.

“Russia has been and remains ready to be a reliable supplier of energy resources to any global market, including Europe. We are particularly committed to our obligations to friendly and brotherly countries like Serbia. Contacts on this matter are indeed ongoing,” he said.

Commenting on Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s statement that he had agreed with Vladimir Putin on a three-month extension of the gas contract, the Kremlin spokesperson said: “I will not comment on this now, please wait for our information. I can only confirm that one of President Putin’s two international phone calls today was indeed with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.”
