Russia is not discussing the possibility of swapping Azerbaijani gas to the European Union using the Ukrainian gas transportation system, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, this issue is not being discussed.
Note that reports about exploring the possibilities of transporting Azerbaijani gas to the EU through its own territory after the expiration of Ukraine's transit agreement with Gazprom were published.
Recall that on January 1, the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory to Europe was completely stopped due to Ukraine's refusal to extend the agreement. Later, Reuters reported that the European Commission will continue negotiations with Kyiv regarding gas transportation to Europe through Ukrainian territory, and it intends to involve Hungary and Slovakia in this process. According to Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, the subject of the negotiations could be the transit of gas from Azerbaijan to the EU.
