Nearly 640,000 migrants have been included in the registry of foreign citizens who are illegally present in the Russian Federation, said the Chairman of the Russian Government, Mikhail Mishustin, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
"Since February 2025, the registry of controlled persons has been implemented. This is the Ministry of Internal Affairs' database for foreigners who are illegally present in Russia. There, I believe our Ministry of Internal Affairs has done excellent work – restrictions have been imposed on illegal migrants in the country. Approximately 664,000 foreign nationals have been included in this registry," the Russian Prime Minister said while answering questions from MPs in the State Duma.
He reminded that since February, the regime for expelling illegal migrants from the Russian Federation has been in force: “Such individuals must either legalize their stay in Russia by April 30 or leave the country.”
Mishustin emphasized that starting from December 1 this year, Russia is conducting an experiment to strengthen control over entry and exit: "Foreigners must present biometric data when passing through Moscow airports, which is aimed at preventing prohibited individuals from entering the country. We have obtained information about approximately 2 million people. More than 550 people who had changed their personal information have been identified, and their entry have been denied to the Russian Federation," the Russian Prime Minister concluded.
