The “Chechen Republic of Ichkeria” has been declared a terrorist organization in Russia and its activities have been banned, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing the Federal Security Service (FSB).

It was stated that a court in Grozny declared the “Chechen Republic of Ichkeria” a terrorist organization and banned its activities in Russia. This decision also applies to 29 branches of the organization in 14 European countries.

“Since the start of the special military operation, members of the ‘Chechen Republic of Ichkeria’ have been participating in combat operations against the Russian Armed Forces as part of Ukrainian armed formations, including sabotage and terrorist attacks in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, as well as killings of Russian military personnel and civilians,” the FSB statement said.

It was emphasized that since November 2007, structures associated with the “Chechen Republic of Ichkeria” have been led by Akhmed Zakayev, who is internationally wanted for terrorism and is hiding in the United Kingdom. In January 2025, Zakayev and another leader of the organization, Yusupov, were sentenced to 20 and 19 years in prison, respectively.
