Russian authorities have confirmed that General  Aleksandr Otroshchenko was killed in a plane crash in Crimea, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis said that Lieutenant General Aleksandr Otroshchenko, commander of the Air Force and Air Defense of the 45th Army of Russia’s Northern Fleet, was among those killed in the crash of an An-26 military transport aircraft in Crimea.

Earlier, opposition media in Russia reported that the general had died in the crash.

Note that on March 31, an An-26 military transport aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Defense crashed in the airspace over Crimea. The aircraft reportedly lost control and struck rocks. As a result, 30 people were killed, including 7 crew members.
