Russia calls on American leadership to immediately release Nicolás Maduro

Russia expresses strong solidarity with Venezuela and supports the government of the Bolivarian Republic's course in the face of external aggression, said Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, APA reports.

"We express our firm solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of external aggression. We fully support the Bolivarian government's course aimed at protecting the country's national interests and sovereignty," he said at a UN Security Council meeting on Venezuela.

The head of the Russian diplomatic mission expressed hope that Washington's "international robbery" "will receive an objective, comprehensive assessment in international legal terms, using the universal mechanisms of the UN and other multilateral formats."

Nebenzya also called on the American leadership to immediately release the legitimately elected President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife.
