Russia bans dairy imports from Armenia after inspections

Russia has banned the import of dairy products from Armenia, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said in a statement, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

It was reported that the agency imposed the ban on dairy imports from Armenia following inspections conducted at several enterprises.

"During inspections carried out on July 14-21, the agency confirmed that milk from infected cattle had been used in the production of goods shipped to Russia. Despite previous assurances by Armenia's Veterinary Service regarding the use of locally sourced raw materials or raw materials from enterprises within the Eurasian Economic Union, cases of using raw materials from third countries for the production of high-fat products intended for the Russian market have been confirmed," the agency said in its statement.
