Russia is consistently applying restrictive measures against WhatsApp, APA's Moscow bureau reports, citing Roskomnadzor.
It was noted that if the messenger does not comply with Russian laws, WhatsApp may be completely blocked.
"WhatsApp continues to violate Russian laws. Messenger is used to organize and carry out terrorist attacks in the country, recruit terrorists, commit fraud and other crimes against Russian citizens. WhatsApp does not meet the requirements aimed at preventing and combating crimes in Russia. Therefore, Roskomnadzor is consistently applying restrictive measures against WhatsApp."
Roskomnadzor said that the restrictions are being applied in stages, which allows users to switch to other messengers.
It should be noted that starting today, problems have been observed in sending and receiving messages from the WhatsApp messenger in Russia. Although calls were completely restricted with WhatsApp in August of this year, messaging was possible until now.
