Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the creation of a national digital service with messenger functions in Russia, the information on this was published on Russia’s legal information portal, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to the new law, a national digital service will be established in Russia. The national messenger will allow messaging and phone calls in Russian and the official languages of the republics within the Russian Federation.
The platform will be integrated with "Gosuslugi" and the Unified Identification and Authentication System, enabling citizens to access information from their personal documents. Following the launch of the national messenger, services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and other foreign platforms are expected to be gradually restricted in Russia.
