We are not responsible for the deaths of people, because we did not start this war, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference on the results of the year, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
The Russian President said that Ukraine started the war.
Putin also touched on the agreements reached during negotiations with US President Donald Trump in Alaska in August this year. He stressed that Russia agreed with Trump's proposals in Anchorage and practically accepted them: "It is not correct to say that we rejected something. We agree with the compromises offered to us."
The Russian President noted that "the ball is completely on the side of the Ukrainian leadership and their European sponsors": "We are ready for both negotiations and a peaceful resolution of the conflict."
