Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that 2025 will be the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia, APA reports citing TASS.
He made the announcement at a meeting of the State Council, after mentioning that 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
"In this context, I propose to declare 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in honor of the participants of the special military operation and in memory of the feats of all our ancestors, who fought in various periods of history for the Motherland. In glory of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers who crushed Nazism," Putin said.
