Russian President Vladimir Putin declared an Easter truce, the Kremlin press service informed, APA reports.
"By decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in connection with the approaching Orthodox holiday of Easter, a ceasefire is declared from 4:00 PM on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026," the statement reads.
The Kremlin also noted that Russia expects Ukraine to follow Moscow's example with a ceasefire on Easter.
"We assume that the Ukrainian side will follow the example of the Russian Federation [with the Easter truce]," the statement said.
