Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Azerbaijani scientist, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Vagif Karimov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to an order signed by Putin, Vagif Yunus oglu Karimov has been granted the honorary title of “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.”
It should be noted that Karimov was born in Baku in 1949. A professor and leading expert in geology and oil and gas exploration, he has been engaged in scientific and pedagogical activity for over 50 years.
Throughout his career, he has held senior positions at universities in the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, including serving as head of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Oil and Gas Exploration at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (2009–2018). Since 2017, he has headed the Department of Geology and Exploration of Hydrocarbon Deposits at the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State Geological Prospecting University in Moscow.
