Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports citing the Kremlin press service.

The two leaders exchanged warm congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II.

President Putin extended his best wishes for health and well-being to veterans living in Israel. Both sides emphasized their shared commitment to preserving the truth about WWII events and resisting attempts to distort history or revise the war's outcomes. They particularly highlighted the Red Army’s decisive role and the sacrifices made by the Soviet people in defeating Nazism.

The leaders also noted the sacred respect paid in both countries to the memory of war heroes and those who perished for victory—especially as May 9 is a national holiday in Israel as well.

In addition to commemorative matters, Putin and Netanyahu discussed various aspects of the situation in the Middle East and current issues in bilateral relations.
