The Kremlin has responded to the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal on strategic offensive weapons a good idea, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, said that the Kremlin welcomes Trump’s statement calling Putin’s proposal on strategic offensive weapons a good idea.
According to him, the words of the U.S. President give reason to hope that Washington will support this initiative.
Note that Russia has announced its readiness to comply with the limitations on strategic offensive weapons for one more year after the expiration of the START treaty. Official Moscow has stated that the United States must hold the same position for Russia to continue adhering to the START treaty for an additional year.
