A large number of violations and potentially dangerous content for Russia are being recorded on Telegram, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the Telegram administration does not want to cooperate with the Russian authorities.
“We are recording a large number of violations and the unwillingness of the Telegram administration to cooperate with our authorities. We are also recording a significant amount of content that could pose a potential threat to our country, and on this basis, our relevant agencies are taking the measures they deem appropriate,” the Kremlin spokesperson added.
Peskov also commented on the investigation into the actions of Telegram founder Pavel Durov within the framework of a criminal case on charges of aiding terrorist activity. He said he was familiar with the reports and noted that they were prepared based on materials from the Federal Security Service, which is carrying out its duties: “The Kremlin does not have the authority to decide whether to block messaging applications or not. This is not the Kremlin’s function. It is the function of the relevant agencies,” he said.
