Leaving the post of President of Syria was a personal decision of Bashar al-Assad, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with journalists, APA reports.
"Leaving the process of fulfilling the duties of the head of state is a personal decision of Assad," the spokesman stressed.
Peskov noted that Russia is currently continuing its dialogue with the countries of the region.
"We have a coincidence of interests, broad-format–format cooperation is being carried out with a number of states - we intend to continue all processes. Now is the time for in-depth analysis," Peskov stressed.
