Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the election of the Catholicos must be held in full accordance with the current canonical rules of the Armenian Church, APA reports.
Referring to the points of the “roadmap” for the renewal of the Armenian Church that he published a few days earlier, Pashinyan said that the first point is related to the election of the Catholicos.
“It is important that this election be held in accordance with the mechanisms currently in place. As far as I know, this election should be carried out by the bishops of the Armenian Church, and I have no other approach or proposal regarding this matter,” he noted on his Facebook page.
Recall that on December 8, after Catholicos Garegin II was removed, the Prime Minister of Armenia presented the “roadmap” for the renewal of the Church.
