After the declaration of ceasefire in 1994, the population of Azerbaijan doubled, while Armenian population declined significantly, said Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan while responding to the questions of the journalists at the next meeting of an investigative commission investigating 44-day at Armenian Parliament, APA reports.
"When the ceasefire was declared in 1994, it was noted that the Armenian side won the war, while the Azerbaijani side was defeated. Then why as a result of this victory Armenia's population did not increase, but decrease and why was it not possible to defeat Azerbaijan in the economic competition? It is related to ensuring security and military budget," noted Pashinyan.
"We all know that in 1997-1998, the Karabakh issue occupied a very important place in the internal politics of Armenia," added Prime Minister.
