Participants of January 2022 Kazakh unrest sentenced

Those arrested in Kazakhstan for the events that took place in January 2022 have been sentenced, APA reports citing Sputnik-Kazakhstan.

Criminal authority Arman Zhumageldiyev, nicknamed "Wild Arman", was sentenced to 20 years, and former head of the National Security Committee Ruslan Isakov was sentenced to 15 years and 5 months.

Former member of the country's parliament, Kairat Kudaybergen, was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

It should be noted that the protests that began on January 2 of that year due to the increase in the price of compressed gas quickly spread to several major cities.

As a result, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed the government of Askar Mamin and the chairman of the Security Council, former head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev.
