The need for a new constitution is a result of the geopolitical changes occurring in the region, said Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, APA reports citing Armenian media.
He added that there are provisions in the fundamental documents that need to be revised since Armenia declared its independence. It is related to the geopolitical changes and "recent developments".
"We must understand where Armenia is going, what goals it is pursuing and for what purpose the Republic of Armenia exists. Does it exist to restore "Greater Armenia" or to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens? We have to answer these questions, and I consider the answers given to them in our society ambiguous", he said.
