Statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official
"It is not possible to be a member of both the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union at the same time. However, the final decision must be made by Armenia itself," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.
Differences between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union
He described the Eurasian Economic Union, unlike the European Union, as a union of equal sovereign states. Mikhail Galuzin mentioned that the EU operates within the framework of decisions made by Brussels bureaucrats, which are often against Russia.
Armenia being faced with a choice
"The final decision regarding which side to choose must be made by Armenia. We hope that the benefits of joining the Eurasian Economic Union will be explained. This will allow for the formation of an objective perception among the population," Mikhail Galuzin added.
Armenia's sovereignty
Mikhail Galuzin concluded by noting that Armenia is a sovereign state capable of freely choosing its development vector.
