The number of foreign citizens registered in Russia's list of illegal migrants has been revealed, Irina Volk, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs said, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to the report, since the implementation of the registry for monitored individuals, more than 688,000 checks have been carried out on foreigners.
The official also reported that as a result, 95,608 law violators have been identified.
Note that on February 5, the stricter migration laws adopted at the end of last year came into effect in Russia. One of these laws is the establishment of a registry for migrants who violate the law.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed who will be included in the migrants' registry. Thus, information about foreign citizens will be entered into the registry when their temporary stay, temporary residence permit, residence permit, patent, work permit, or the duration of their employment contract expires, as well as when they are denied recognition as a refugee or the granting of temporary asylum.
