Russia's parliament may announce next year's scheduled presidential election on Dec. 13, the state news agency reported, citing a source in parliament, APA reports.

It was said that next year's presidential election has been preliminarily scheduled for March 17.

Note that the presidential term in Russia was increased from 4 years to 6 years. At the same time, the Russian president signed the legislation ending a year-long process to “reset” his presidential terms by rewriting the constitution through a referendum-like process . The Russian leader’s re-election bid has been made possible by constitutional changes that allow him to remain in office until 2036.
