Russia will provide financial assistance to Cuba, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

He noted that Russia stands in solidarity with Cuba and that Moscow will provide financial assistance to Havana.

The Russian diplomat also emphasized that financial assistance has already begun: “Depending on how the situation develops, different options are possible. But for now, we are providing assistance individually. Together with other BRICS members that have deep relations with Havana as a close partner and ally, including China, we are doing everything we can.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s deputy head said that there is “strong pressure” coming from the United States. He added that within the framework of an updated “Monroe Doctrine,” Washington will not refrain from resorting to any unlawful means that violate the foundations of international law.

Note that the United States has imposed an embargo on all fuel supplies to Cuba. Washington has succeeded in halting oil supplies to Cuba from Mexico and Venezuela. To further escalate the situation, the U.S. administration has also announced its intention to impose proportional import tariffs on goods from countries that dare to supply fuel to Cuba.

Russia’s Embassy in Havana has stated that Moscow will soon begin delivering oil and petroleum products as humanitarian aid.
