Military equipment has been released into Moscow's key streets.
"Security measures have been strengthened in Moscow, and all important facilities, state bodies, and transportation infrastructure facilities have been placed under enhanced protection," according to the media, citing law enforcement agencies.
Units of the Russian National Guard, OMON, and the Special Rapid Response Unit (SOBR) have been put on alert.
Images of military equipment being brought into Moscow's central streets were aired as well on local telegram channels.
Heavy military equipment can be seen moving in the images on Moscow's Nikolayamskaya and Bolshaya Dmitrovka streets.
