"The staff at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau will be reduced to 10 diplomats and 15 technical workers, an amount approximately 60% less than the current number of employees," Daniel Voda, spokesman for the Moldovan government, said replying to journalists’ questions following a briefing, APA reports citing TASS.

"The number of diplomatic workers will be reduced to 10 people and technical staff will be reduced to 15 people. Moldovan authorities notified a representative of the Russian Embassy about the decision this morning," he said.

This decision was explained by the numerous unfriendly moves and attempts to destabilize Moldova domestically.

Moldova is cutting the number of staff Russia can have at its embassy, said Foreign Minister of the country Nicu Popescu on Wednesday, APA reports citing Moldovan press.

"We came to a common opinion with institutions and persons making political decisions on the need to limit the number of Russian diplomats accredited in Moldova," he said.

According to Popescu, the reason for this step was the suspicion that "some of the embassy employees are involved in the destabilization of the situation in the country."
