Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov has called Armenia's demand for additional payments for the South Caucasus Railway groundless, APA reports.
According to him, the South Caucasus Railway is not a "free" asset, but rather an enterprise in which Russia has invested more than 30 billion rubles, updated its rolling stock and developed its infrastructure within the framework of contractual obligations.
According to the minister, if these obligations are unilaterally revised and the investor suffers losses as a result, Russia will have the right to demand compensation.
"Raising the issue that Russia should pay additional payments to Armenia is unfounded," Reshetnikov said, commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on the search for an alternative to relations with Moscow.
