Russian President Vladimir Putin had planned to meet with the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who visited Moscow, but later changed his mind, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing the Agentstvo outlet.
According to the outlet, citing a source, Vladimir Putin initially planned to meet with CIA Director John Ratcliffe during the latter’s visit to Moscow on August 25. However, he declined the meeting after learning that the CIA chief intended to urge the Russian authorities to enter into negotiations to end the war as soon as possible due to the deterioration of Russia’s military and economic situation.
The source revealed that Putin had initially also changed his schedule for the possible talks.
Note that reports have emerged that Ratcliffe met in Moscow with Sergei Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), and Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB). The purpose of the CIA chief’s visit to Moscow has not been officially disclosed.
