Massive drone attack targets Moscow, killing two

Moscow and the Moscow region came under a massive drone attack overnight on September 20, APA reports.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said air defense forces had repelled what he described as the Ukrainian army’s largest drone attack on the Russian capital. According to him, more than 1,600 drones have been neutralized in all directions since yesterday.

Two people were killed in the Moscow region: an elderly man in Orekhovo-Zuyevo and a woman in Sofyino. Five others, including two children, were injured. The children were hospitalized and are receiving the necessary medical care. Another person was reportedly injured in the Leninsky urban district.

A facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery was damaged, though preliminary reports indicated that no one was injured.

In Ramenskoye, debris from a drone sparked a fire on the roof of a 21-storey residential building. Around 400 people, including 70 children, were evacuated, while 20 vehicles were damaged. District head Eduard Malyshev also reported that a drone had struck a shopping center.

A fire broke out at a warehouse complex in Sofyino following the attack, with eight firefighting crews deployed to the scene.

A residential building and an industrial facility were also damaged in Istra.
