Russia considers it strange to hear statements about some kind of threat to Armenia from the north, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a meeting in Moscow with Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
The Russian foreign minister touched upon statements coming from Yerevan about hybrid threats. He noted that the European Union constantly forces Armenia to choose between being with Russia or being with them.
Lavrov emphasized that Russia is interested in developing relations with Armenia, which is Moscow’s ally: “We proceed from the fact that in recent years our contacts at the highest political and parliamentary levels have been developing steadily and very intensively. We are interested in this. Armenia is our ally, our strategic partner. We see how difficult the situation is in the South Caucasus.”
