Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the Armenian leadership’s potential decision to distance itself from the Eurasian Economic Union and its allies would not benefit the Armenian people, APA reports, citing TASS.
Lavrov made the remarks in response to recent statements from Armenian officials suggesting the country must choose between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
"We are not putting any pressure on the Armenian authorities. We are simply waiting for clarity on these matters. But it’s clear that if Armenia turns away from its allies and neighbors, it will not be in the interest of the Armenian people," Lavrov stated.
