Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 112 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), this was reported on May 23 in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, APA reports citing IZVESTIYA.
"In the period from 20:00 on May 22, 112 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of an airplane type were destroyed and intercepted by air defense systems on duty," the department said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that 24 drones were shot down over the territory of the Moscow region, 22 UAVs were destroyed over the Republic of Crimea, 18 drones over the Tula region, 11 drones over the Kursk region. Eight UAVs were shot down in the Orel and Bryansk regions, six over Ryazan. Five drones were shot down in the sky over the territory of the Kaluga region, three drones were destroyed over the Belgorod and Ivanovo regions. Two UAVs were eliminated over the Vladimir region, and one UAV was destroyed in the Voronezh and Lipetsk regions.
On May 22, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the air defense forces had eliminated 159 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the Russian regions on May 22 from 08:00 to 20:00 Moscow time.
