Considering the rhetoric of confrontation from the U.S., it is natural for Iran to decide to bring its army to a high state of combat readiness, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the worsening situation around Iran is causing concern for Russia.
"Of course, like everyone else, this has caused concern for Moscow as well. We hear quite harsh rhetoric. Naturally, the Iranian authorities are taking the necessary precautionary protective measures. All of this leads to an increase in tension. We believe that, in this situation, the main thing is likely to focus attention on news about the possibility of contacts—whether direct or indirect; this is not as important. However, contacts and dialogue are always better than confrontational actions that lead to increased tension," said Putin's spokesman.
Note that, according to Reuters, citing a senior Iranian official, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has ordered the armed forces to be brought to a high state of combat readiness. This comes in the context of threats from Washington.
