U.S. President Donald Trump did not request a ceasefire until a full agreement is reached in Ukraine during his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

He noted that Washington has accepted Moscow’s position and uses the term “ceasefire” in the proper sense.

Peskov said that no such condition was set by the United States: “This has already been discussed many times. All modalities regarding the ceasefire are well understood. President Putin’s consistent position is also known to everyone.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow is grateful to Washington for its mediation efforts in the Ukraine settlement and is interested in continuing this process: “Putin highly appreciates the United States’ mediation efforts in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. We are grateful for this and are interested in the continuation of this process.”

Peskov also added that the U.S. President’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, maintains constant contact with his Russian counterparts: “This allows for dialogue on the most sensitive issues. This communication channel indeed allows us to send signals to each other on the most sensitive matters.”
