Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia needs peace with Ukraine rather than a ceasefire, according to APA’s Moscow bureau.

Peskov said the situation in the Black Sea is “special” and that Russia is responding to Ukrainian attacks there.

“Ukraine must pay the price for this. It is already paying and will continue to pay,” he said.

Peskov noted that Russia is continuing what Moscow calls its “special military operation” and wants to completely stop the delivery of military supplies and fuel to Kyiv by sea.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman reiterated that Moscow has always been open to negotiations, but stressed that Russia needs peace with Ukraine, not a ceasefire.

He also said that Kyiv has so far shown no inclination toward comprehensive agreements.
