Russia has not discussed with the United States the possible easing of US sanctions in exchange for the release of political prisoners, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, there are no political prisoners in Russia.
“This could not have been discussed in such a context because we categorically deny the existence of any political prisoners and believe that such an interpretation of the issue is completely inappropriate,” Peskov emphasized.
The Kremlin spokesman also noted that the two countries’ special services continue to maintain regular contacts regarding “various exchanges” that have taken place previously.
