Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was interested in a “long-term and stable peace” in Ukraine, not a temporary cessation of hostilities, TASS said, Prm.ua reports.
According to him, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has allegedly always advocated for a long-term settlement, while a temporary ceasefire, in the Kremlin’s view, “will achieve nothing.”
“Putin and the Russian side have always stated that we advocate for a lasting peace, a permanent peace, and not a ceasefire that will essentially achieve nothing,” Peskov said.
At the same time, a Kremlin spokesman stated that the Ukrainian side allegedly knows the conditions that Moscow is putting forward for ending the war.
According to Peskov, Kyiv seems to understand “what responsibility it must take upon itself” and what decisions need to be made to embark on the path to “sustainable peace.”
The day before, Peskov also stated that Moscow hopes for the resumption of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine and the United States. At the same time, he acknowledged that there has been no progress in the negotiation process.
