First Deputy Chief of Russia’s Presidential Administration Alexei Gromov has reportedly blocked the dismissal of television host Vladimir Solovyov from the state-owned Rossiya TV channel, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing local Telegram channels.

It was said that following propagandist Solovyov’s statement that “Russia should carry out a special military operation in Central Asia,” the issue of his dismissal from state television came onto the agenda.

According to a source within the Presidential Administration, “dark clouds” once again gathered over Solovyov, but Gromov personally vetoed any personnel change involving Russia’s “chief propagandist.”

Reports noted that in his recent programs, Solovyov effectively announced the possibility of a new “special military operation” in Central Asia and referred to Central Asian republics as “Russian lands.” These statements reportedly caused serious dissatisfaction between different factions within the Kremlin (“Kremlin towers”) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the source, Solovyov’s remarks created major problems for Russian diplomats, forcing them to defend themselves and publicly state that the TV host’s views do not reflect the position of Russia’s leadership.

The source added that Solovyov’s departure from state television was a real possibility, but Gromov blocked the personnel decision.

Recall that in one of his recent appearances, Solovyov stressed that Russia should focus not on Syria or Venezuela, but primarily on Armenia and Central Asian countries, and should carry out “special military operations” against them. Following these remarks, Armenia delivered a diplomatic note to Russia. It was reported that Solovyov would be stripped of an award granted by Armenia, while Kyrgyzstan stated that the Russian TV journalist could be declared an “undesirable person.”
