"Kyiv's use of Western non-nuclear missiles against Russia could trigger a nuclear response from Moscow," said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, under the new doctrine, the use of Western non-nuclear missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the Russian Federation could lead to a nuclear response.
Peskov emphasized that the Russian Federation views the use of nuclear weapons as a last resort: "The Russian Federation has always taken a responsible position and makes efforts to reduce the nuclear threat. Russia’s updated nuclear doctrine was published on time. The update was necessary to adapt the document to the current political situation."
The Kremlin spokesperson stressed that the "special military operation" is being conducted in the context of a war launched by the West against the Russian Federation, and it will continue until its objectives are achieved.
