Kremlin comments on Armenia’s plans to cooperate with the U.S. in the nuclear energy sector

“Armenia and Russia are united by the Eurasian Economic Union integration project. It is unlikely that anyone could dispute the role played by the Eurasian Economic Union in maintaining the high pace of Armenia’s economic growth,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, while commenting on the agreements signed between Armenia and the United States on cooperation in the economic and nuclear energy sectors, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

According to Peskov, the role of the Eurasian Economic Union in Armenia’s development is evident.

“We hope that our cooperation will continue. As for Armenia’s cooperation with the United States in the field of nuclear energy, you know that there are Soviet-era facilities in Armenia, which are, of course, facilities of Soviet and Russian design. In this regard, Russia undoubtedly has greater advantages and competitiveness. As one of the world’s leading countries in the field of nuclear energy, Russia possesses the highest level of international competitiveness. If there is demand from a partner for such competition… that is, Russia can ensure high quality over many years at a lower cost,” the Kremlin spokesperson emphasized.
