During the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump, the proposal for a meeting in the United States between the Russian president and the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was not discussed, the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov announced, Izvestiya reports.
"No, such a possibility has not been discussed," he said, answering the relevant question.
According to him, no one has yet approached the Russian side with a proposal for a meeting. He also noted that various diplomatic contacts are currently taking place at the G7 summit in France with the participation of the US president. During the summit, Trump is scheduled to meet with Zelenskyy, among others.
Ushakov also recalled that following the results of the last conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, special envoy of the American leader Steven Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner are expected to visit Russia. According to the presidential aide, the arrival of Washington's representatives will be possible after they take part in the signing of the US-Iranian memorandum on June 19.
The day before, the head of the White House called his conversations with Putin and Zelenskyy very good. Speaking about the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Trump assured that Moscow and Kiev are open to negotiations, so "it may be possible to achieve something on this issue."
On June 12, Putin said that Russia was ready to negotiate with Ukraine, but taking into account the realities on earth and its national interests, including promising ones. The President also noted that when solving the tasks of the armed struggle, it is necessary to take into account the capabilities of the enemy and improve their own.
