Armenia’s second president and leader of the opposition “Hayastan” bloc, Robert Kocharyan, has said that discussions are still ongoing regarding the format in which they will participate in the parliamentary elections, APA reports, citing Armenpress.

At a press conference held today, Kocharyan stated they are inclined to participate in the elections in the same format as in the 2021 elections, but a final decision has not yet been made.

Armenia’s second president said that a final decision on this issue will be made in February.

Kocharyan also commented on who would be their candidate for prime minister. He noted that public opinion polls would be conducted in early February, and based on the results, a decision would be made on the candidate.

“If I am the leader in the polls, then I will put forward my candidacy. If it turns out that there is someone in our alliance who can collect more votes, then that person will be the candidate,” the second president of Armenia added.

Kocharyan also emphasized that this time there are better chances for a broad opposition alliance.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held in June 2026.
