Kazakhstan’s Defense Ministry had refuted reports saying that a new NATO peacekeeping operations center had opened in the republic, APA reports citing TASS.
Kazakh Defense Ministry explained that, on October 23, a new conference hall of its Peacekeeping Operations Center officially opened in Astana with US Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum attending.
Established in 2006, the Center has been functioning as an educational facility for developing the peacekeeping component of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces. The center specializes in pre-departure training for Kazakh peacekeepers assigned to UN missions, the ministry added.
