Russian media manager and public figure Irena Lesnevskaya has died at the age of 83. Marianna Maksimovskaya, CEO of VK Video, announced the death on social media, APA reports.
"Irena Stefanovna Lesnevskaya has passed away. The person after whom the REN channel, which she once founded, is named," she wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is considered extremist in Russia).
Maksimovskaya noted that she, her colleagues at "Nedelya," and all of Russian television, for which the Russian media manager contributed so much, owe a great deal to Irena Stefanovna. "Blessed memory to this great woman...," wrote the general director of VK Video.
