“I have begun the process of renouncing all other citizenships except Armenian citizenship,” imprisoned Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan said, APA reports.
“I decided to start the process of renouncing these passports because I am participating in the elections and am confident in my victory,” said the leader of the “Strong Armenia” party.
Note that Samvel Karapetyan holds Russian and Cypriot citizenship.
Recall that possessing citizenship other than Armenian citizenship is considered an obstacle to participating in the parliamentary elections in Armenia scheduled for June 7.
