Heavy snowfall has hit the Russian capital, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
Continuous snowfall over the past three days has exceeded half a meter in depth.
Meteorologists say this level of snowfall is a record for January.
The snowfall has been accompanied by strong winds and blizzard conditions. It is reported that the precipitation will continue until this evening before easing.
Authorities in the Moscow region have advised residents to avoid using private vehicles.
Due to the severe snowstorm, nearly 200 flights have been canceled or delayed at Moscow airports.
